Sell An e-books

How to sell an e-book

For a very long time now (considering that the internet has been around for over a decade atleast), people have been reading e-books. Though the first few years of e-books were more restricted to an audience that was interested in something new, over the years it has grown from a fantastic option to a mainstream one.

According to a major search engine study, there are atleast a million e-books that have been written in all these years, and several thousand of them are on sale (while the remaining are the free ones). Of those, there are some exceptional block busters – which have sold tens of thousands of copies, and considering that the cost is almost zilch, those books would have made their authors comfortably rich. Now, if you are considering writing an e-book at this moment, there is one more thing we should mention – only a few hundred books have really taken off that way. The remaining crowd is still hanging around on the 124th page of Google and waiting for a buyer – who may never come.

The basic premise of an e-book is convenience and if you are thinking to write and sell e-books, there should be a void in the marketplace that you should be looking to fill. If there are already a ton of information on a subject and you want to add to that, it won’t really make sense, as this is not like a product which will have reviews and can compete with others already existing in the genre. An e-book will rarely ever get talked about in the open and most sales happen from visitors who directly search and come onto your website. So there is a hint right there – your site should be visible enough for visitors to stumble across. Just hosting a website and expecting people to come in won’t really happen. If you have an SEO consultant, he’ll make sure that your keywords are optimized big time so you can get organic traffic. The reason we’re saying organic traffic is because spending a bomb on advertising will drive the price of your e-book upwards and that is convenient for a customer.

One very common way to make money with e-books is to get a top affiliate site like ClickBank to sell it for you. There are thousands of successful affiliates on a site like that and the exposure your book will gain (provided you give them a good deal) will make sure that you start making money online.
